cookie policy

Plain English
about the cookies
we use.

Splash Designs Ltd. respects your privacy. This page explains what cookies we use on splash.ie, what they do, and how you can control them. If you only want to change your cookie preferences, hit the button at the top of the page and you are done. The rest is here for anyone who wants the detail. Applies to Splash and subdomains and governed by Irish and EU law

01

What cookies
actually are.

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves to your browser when you visit. The next time you visit the same site, your browser sends the file back, which lets the site recognise you and remember things like your preferences or whether you are logged in.

Cookies cannot run programs or carry viruses. They are just text. Most websites you visit use them, including this one. If you would like a deeper read on cookies generally, aboutcookies.org is the standard reference.

02

Which cookies
we use.

When you use splash.ie, we set three types of cookies. You can switch all but the strictly necessary ones off using the button at the top of this page.

STRICTLY NECESSARY
Things that have to work. These keep the site functioning. Logging in, remembering your cookie preferences, basic security. Without them the site cannot do its job. They do not track you and they do not contain personal information. You cannot switch these off.

PERFORMANCE
How the site is used. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. This helps us improve the site over time. The data is anonymous and aggregated. You can read Google's cookie policy if you want to know exactly what they collect.

FUNCTIONAL
Remembering your choices. These remember preferences like which forms you have filled in or which notices you have already dismissed, so we are not bothering you with the same thing twice.

03

Third-party
cookies.

If you watch an embedded video or use a social media share button on our site, the company that runs that service (YouTube, Vimeo, LinkedIn, X, and so on) will set their own cookies on your browser. These are not ours, and we cannot control them.

If you want to know what those companies do with their cookies, you will need to read their cookie policies on their own websites. Switching off cookies in your browser is the most reliable way to block third-party cookies across every site you visit, including ours.

04

Your rights,
plainly.

Under Irish and EU law (GDPR), you have specific rights about the data we hold on you. Here are the relevant ones for cookies:

  • Right to refuse - You can refuse non-essential cookies. The site will still work, though some features may behave differently.

  • Right to change your mind - You can change your cookie preferences any time using the button at the top of this page. Your earlier choice does not lock you in.

  • Right to access - You can ask us what data we hold on you and we will tell you within 30 days. Email go@splash.ie.

  • Right to be forgotten - You can ask us to delete data we hold on you. Some data we are legally obliged to keep (invoices, contracts) but anything else, we will remove on request.

  • Right to complain - If you think we have mishandled your data, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

05

Controlling cookies
in your browser.

You can also block or delete cookies from inside your browser. Every browser does this differently:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data

  • Safari: Settings → Privacy

  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security

  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Be aware that if you disable all cookies in your browser, parts of splash.ie and most other websites may not work properly. Logging in, filling forms, and remembering preferences all rely on cookies.

06

Changes to
this policy.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, the law, or how we run the site. The "Effective from" date at the top of the page tells you when it was last updated.

If we make a meaningful change, we will flag it on the homepage so you know to come back and read it. Minor wording fixes do not get flagged.
